Barstow
The Barstow Project is a 100 MW early stage development wind and solar energy project near Barstow, California. After reviewing the Company's environmental and cultural surveys of the area for the installation of meteorological towers, BLM issued an environmental assessment and, effective April 2, 2009, a three-year grant authorizing us to install two towers. The towers were installed during the second quarter of 2009.
If the Company determines that the wind resource is sufficient to justify developing a wind farm project, the Company will conduct the required environmental surveys to install wind turbines and associated electrical equipment, and apply for a commercial right-of-way grant from the BLM for approximately 3,300 acres. The Company is first in the queue to obtain a commercial right-of-way. This project is in the earliest stages of development and we have not yet begun negotiations for a PPA or submitted applications for interconnection and transmission.
