Overview
The Company owns two operating wind energy electrical generation facilities in California totaling 34.5 MW. In December 2010, the Company commenced major construction on its 120MW Windstar project located in Tehachapi, California and is on track for completion by year-end, December 31, 2011.
At the end of September, 2011, the Company completed construction of its 10.5 MW wind/solar site located in Kingman, Arizona and is now selling power to the grid.
The Company is also developing wind and solar energy projects in California, Arizona, and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
The three operating wind power facilities are comprised of the Windridge generating facility in Tehachapi, California, that has a 4.5 MW rated capacity, the Mesa Wind Power generating facility near Palm Springs, California, that has a 30 MW rated capacity and the newly-completed 10.5 MW Kingman, Arizona wind/solar site .
In California and Arizona, the Company has purchased or leased land to build wind and solar power facilities. Western Wind owns more than 4,000 acres of fee simple land and leases 5,466 acres in California and 400 acres in Puerto Rico.
